Operator Interfaces
Eaton has a history of success providing electronic operator interfaces (OI) that are easy to install, learn, understand, modify and use. From the original operator stations introduced back in the early 1970s to the popular PanelMate® series of products today, Cutler-Hammer OI products provide the best value on the market.

Until recently, field bus networks have been limited to non-safety relevant applications due to hardwire / hardware safety requirements. Emerging and existing international safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508) allow for safe field bus-based systems. Safety-rated automation is following the path of evolution seen over the past decade in standard automation resulting in safe field bus networks that are suitable for safety-relevant control applications.

Sick currently has products available that meet the safety requirements for Profi-Safe, ASI-Safe, and DeviceNet Safety applications. Advantages of safe field bus architectures versus safety relays include:

  • Reduction in system wiring -Better debugging capability, lower MTTR (mean time to repair)
  • Diagnostics at I/O, module and system level
  • Modularity and scalability
